Slack

Slack is communication resource used at WWT. It has unique features you can read about below.

Introduction to Features

There are some features that apply to all conversations within Slack. One commonly used feature is reaction emojis. These can be sent as a solo message by clicking the smiley face emoji in the bottom panel or can be applied directly to a message by hovering over the message and selecting the smiley face emoji in the popup menu. This popup menu that appears when a message is hovered over is comprised of many other helpful features. This includes an option to directly reply to a message (which starts a thread) that can be accessed by clicking on the text bubble icon. Furthermore, there is a Bookmark icon and if this is clicked on, the message is added to your saved items. Another feature Slack offers that you may find helpful is that an entire chat is searchable, so it can be easily navigated.

Channels

Essentially, a channel is a group chat that can be used to communicate between an internal team, a group that is from multiple organizations, or any other group of individuals working on a project together. One feature that is often used within a channel is the @ symbol, which is used to call a specific user or group out in a message.

Syncing with Other Apps

Slack offers the ability to sync itself with other applications such as Microsoft OneDrive, Shortcut, and many more. To do this, navigate to the Apps section of the toolbar on the left-hand side of your screen (it should be near or at the bottom). Under this section, select Add apps and then use the search bar to find the app or scroll and click on the application you would like to add. Follow the prompts provided to finish the set up.
