Optical Equipment and Network Staging

Utilizing our Global Integration Centers we can provide staging of optical equipment by individual site or as an entire network. Staging allows us to consolidate hardware, reducing the number of packages that are shipped to the site, identify any dead-on arrival (DOA) equipment, and allows for pre-configuration and testing, so that less time is spent in the field during deployment.

Goals & Objectives

Individual Site Optical Staging includes the following:
  • Inventory Components (Optical Network, IP or other third-party)
  • Includes rack and stack chassis/cage, fiber panels, fiber shelves
  • Custom crating included for shipping
  • Basic node configuration (Node Name, IP address, Date/Time
  • Basic node testing
  • Configure shelves – update OS based on customer requirements
  • Load configuration files
  • Patch jumpers inter- and intra-shelf fiber 
  • Clean and scope port and fiber jumpers
  • Fiber Jumper Management – Minimize Macro-Bends
  • Label all Internal fiber jumpers to identify intra-slot connections
  • Asset tag each chassis and component based on Customer requirements
  • Provide Inventory and asset tag information to Customer
  • Burn in one (1) hour
  • Repack and ship to sites to ensure minimum grime on jumpers and optical ports
Complete Network Optical Staging add the following in addition to the above:
  • Stage configuration as per the engineered design
  • Verify all auto configuration files 
  • Perform node test and turn up
  • Stage network turn up and commissioning
  • Setup optical service channels (OC3/FE)
  • Stage spans distance, enable OSC, verify spans
  • Perform controller card provisioning 
  • If multiple chassis are part of same node set additional nodes to subtended 
  • Patch Cat5/6 Management-Inter Shelf
  • Label all shelves with their corresponding Node ID number
  • Perform protection switching
  • Provisioning GNE/ENE, SSH, SNMP 
  • Verify DCN settings
  • Setup transponders and muxponders cards
  • Verify DWDM card settings
  • Setup client and trunk optics
  • Create circuits, test circuits end to end
  • Verify performance 
  • Test all circuits end-to-end using BER equipment
